Hello All,

Thanks for the outpouring of support and empathy after my last post. I was feeling really crappy, but am feeling better now and have a plan.

I will have to pay a total of $1321.93 for the whole thing. The repair bill was close to $2000, and I have to pay my deductible - $1000. I am so glad that they will take care of the rest. I also have to pay the rental car company $321.93 in loss of use charges that my insurance policy does not cover. My plan for paying this off is to just pay minimum towards my CCs next month and pay this off using the rest of my paycheck and savings. It delays my debt repayment by a month, but as several of you rightly pointed out, it is not the end of the world - it's just an inconvenient bump!

In other good news, I got approved for a low-limit SwagBucks credit card. I will use this for budgeted purchases and pay it off each week. I will get 1000 SBs for my first purchase and 1.25 SBs/dollar after that. That is good, isn't it? This month, I have already got 5 of the $5 Amazon cards, and am well on my way to making a $25 Paypal reward as well.

awesome - great job getting right back on the horse with a plan and not letting life derail you from your goals! Smile

I'm glad your insurance is covering part of the bill so all you have to come up with is the deductible and the part they don't cover. Still stinks, but it looks like you have a good plan!

So glad you've figured out your new plan. You've faced the first bump in the road head on, and it will make you stronger if any more come along!

Just an aside, but now that you're seeing some light behind those clouds, I've noticed you don't even mention gambling anymore. I'm sure you'll still have to keep some distance between you and the temptation, but it seems like you may have turned the corner on that, as well.

    Thanks all. I'm trying.
Wino - I know i have not mentioned gambling here, but I'm not past it yet. The temptation to do it is still there. It comes back whenever I have a setback or feel depressed or even if I am just on the street that leads to a casino or video lottery place. Even talking about it makes me want to gamble. However, my plan for right now is to immediately start doing something else when I feel the urge. If I delay gambling for a bit, I can stop thinking about it until the next time it pops into my head. Also, I am hoping that if I post on here often, the accountability of that will keep me from spending my money in that way. Of course it also helps that I am completely broke at this point and have no money to gamble with! Thanks for asking.
